ABOUT THE 2023 COURSE
The 2023 Aquaculture in Shared Waters Course will be offered in-person in Belfast and streaming live via Zoom. The 2023 course comprehensively covers cultivation of commercially valuable species including oysters, mussels, scallops, and kelp. Classes begin January 3rd and will be held Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm each week for 14 sessions, concluding in early April with optional field trip opportunities in the spring.
Accepted students are expected and encouraged to attend all sessions. In order to receive a course Certificate of Completion, students must attend a minimum of 10 classes, including essential classes on regulations, biosecurity, public health, and social license.
The course is free of charge and applications are open to all based in Maine.
