The 2026 Aquaculture Workshop Series is designed to build skills and center community among active and aspiring aquaculturists in Maine.
This series was originally designed as an evidenced-based training to meet the needs of women aquaculturists. This year the application is open to anyone. This series will focus on building skills such as seamanship and on-the-water safety, gear and labor practices for different body types, social license, and human relations support for employers and employees. In addition to skill building, the series focuses on knowledge-sharing and co-learning to empower participants and build community. The series is free of charge to participants and each of the three workshops will take place in-person (including 2 overnights), with opportunities for networking and community-building after each workshop.
This 2026 Aquaculture Workshop Series is hosted in partnership with the Aquaculture in Shared Waters training program, which has helped people start and improve their aquaculture businesses in Maine for over a decade.
